The Lucky country?
Rev. Peter Tuchyna
We are living in the lucky country, is an expression we often hear during conversation as a reflection of comparison to many other less “lucky” countries.
Civil order in society.
No elements of evil with big muscles, guns and big fists are allowed to roam the streets of our cities to kill, steal, rape, perform violence of every kind without consequences.
We introduced a certain order and standard, which includes a very elaborate legal system, consisting of various levels of judicial interventions and courts.
That includes police, security and a military force with detention centres and prisons to maintain order and personal safety for every individual.
Can we call it luck? I don’t think so, for the entire society actively participates in maintaining order.
Social security.
Individuals and families who are either physically or mentally unable to provide for themselves, or even temporarily out of work are not left without any help and exposed to starvation.
We as a society have a safety net to provide at least the minimum for such individuals to sustain their lives and dignity with shelter and finances.
Can we call it luck? I don’t think so.
The leadership and various institutions of our country make purposeful and diligent effort to provide social security that every individual may live as a worthwhile being.
Educational system.
Every child has an opportunity to learn and to acquire appropriate education according to the effort made.
Can you call it luck? I don’t think so.
Effort was made by the entire society, finances are provided so that no one individual needs to be illiterate.
Energy and services:
like water supply, electricity, phone, gas including sewage and roads with safety rules and procedures were introduced, that while service is provided it includes “safety” that no individual using it would be exposed to any risk or injuries.
Can you call it luck?
Again, diligent effort was made to have a high level of services with protection of lives secured.
Employment
Employers do provide also appropriate training, safety equipment and industrial and personal protective items to minimize the risk exposure.
Is it really luck? Or have we as a society introduced, enforced and maintained a certain standard and order, which is helping us to work and to live safely and peacefully?
Medical services.
Once again, no individual is left on his own, and unattended without any help offered and provided.
There are certain limitations, what man can do, but the help is always offered.
Why do we call ourselves a lucky country then, when the lifestyle we have has nothing to do with luck at all?
Would it not be more appropriate to call ourselves the “country of order” rather than the lucky country?
Are there some individuals or families lucky?
As in the case of the “lucky” country, so is the life of individuals. Some make greater effort than others to have order, purpose and safety in their lives.
The Bible teaches the principles of sowing and reaping. “No man shall mocked God, for whatsoever man soweth so shall he reap”.
The purpose of the church is to reveal and to teach the principles of God, which brings order into the life of an individual and mankind.
Thus, it is to continue in the mission revealed and given by the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is to teach all nations the ways and the principles and the will of God.
The Church is involved and should be involved in the biggest rescue mission ever needed in the history of mankind, which degenerated from its beauty of uprightness, righteousness and holiness given by God.
1 John 3:8, for this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
John 10:10, the thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I am come that they might have life…
John 14:12, verily, verily, I say unto you. He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my father
God who is God of order established a church. His church has a purpose and does not operate by “luck,” but by the principles revealed in the Word of God.
There is an order and a structure to accomplish the task and commission.
That is what makes a difference between a church and the church, between an individual and the individual, between a family and the family, the application of God’s Word.
With the greatest and most noble desire, but contravening or ignoring certain principles, the service, or the safety or the quality will be compromised and spiritual lives endangered and placed into a great risk
Church’s involvement consists of:
-
Reaching lost souls
-
Spiritual ministry to the church
-
Leadership development
Purposeful and diligent effort in applying the whole counsel of God makes a difference in reflection of well developed, well secured, attractive, well presented and desirous life, for God does not respect person.
Church must be involved in a rescue mission:
This is the purpose of the Church of Jesus Christ as a unit and so is the purpose of every individual soul who is a member of the body of Christ.
The medical staff is trained and competent on every level of involvement to administer the basic first aid.
Nurses are trained to monitor the health condition and in the case of deterioration of the health of a patient in their care, they immediately inform more competent personnel.
Doctors do attend to the needs of patients according to their knowledge, qualification and experience. There is a continuous flow of information and involvement passed down to all parties involved whether they are doctors or nurses.
A Structure was developed so that no individual is without reach and consists of:
-
Ambulance personnel
-
Emergency department
-
Operation theatre
-
Intensive care unit
-
Medical ward
-
Rehabilitation ward
-
Counseling
-
Home visits
-
General Practitioner
-
Palliative care
How much more is the harmony of cooperation, personal involvement and information flowing to all personnel involved in reaching and ministering to the lost soul seeking the salvation needed.
Spiritual maturity, tact, ethics and recognition of personal limit in the involvement with souls are a “must”, as is the submission to a competent authority making final decision of any procedures administered to the patient!
The reason for a medical staff to go to the hospital building is not for the fellowship’s sake. They have fellowship together when all jobs are done. The reason is to minister to needy. So is the purpose of the church, to minister to needy souls for the purpose of salvation.
Fellowship is a part of the process but not the purpose. Only the Word of God is the power of God unto salvation.
It is interesting to realize the meaning of the parable about the wheat and tares. The wheat does not need any support from the very first day of appearance on the surface.
It is tares, which cannot stand on its own and needs “constant support, uplifting, encouragement and reassurance”. Therefore tares are leaning against the wheat.
As it takes effort, time and finances to develop a competent system in secular society in order to serve and help, how much more we, as followers of Jesus must be willing to submit ourselves under the “order” of God through godly leadership to commit ourselves into the service of reaching souls?
There is no such thing as a lucky country, lucky church or lucky family.
Consistency though, is a jewel.
