In my Father’s business
Rev. Peter Tuchyna
It is a great honour and a privilege for me to have fellowship with you all together and to be able to worship and to serve
the Lord Jesus Christ.
I do appreciate the cause of this gathering described as a foundational conference. The foundation meaning, build upon the
Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Cor. 3:11 for other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ in not only the foundation of this gathering and this conference, he is the foundation of our lives and our very
existence. The Old Testament believers, knowledgeable in Scriptures expected the Messiah, the Saviour, and the Deliverer.
They learned and believed, that one day they will experience a far greater deliverance than their fathers, leaving the slavery of
Egypt behind them, walking towards the Promised land.
So in the fullness of time God sent his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Gal 4:4 .
God prepared the way for his manifestation and ministry in the flesh as he revealed it to many Old Testament prophets in the
past, and as he also spoke to Joseph and Mary, and the shepherds, and Simeon and Anna, and Zechariah and Elizabeth and
the wise men from the East.
The purpose of the supernatural manifestation was known and confirmed again as spoken to Joseph and Mary, that they shall
call his name Jesus, which means Messiah, Saviour, Deliverer, Emanuel, for he shall save his people from their sins Matt 1:21.
When Jesus was 12 y.o,. his parents went to Jerusalem into the temple as was their annual custom, and Jesus went with them.
On the way back home, they left Jesus behind, believing that he is travelling with some other relatives.
When they found him finally after 3 days search still in Jerusalem, sitting in the temple with the doctors of theology, and
discussing the issues pertaining the kingdom of God, they expressed their concern. They received a remarkable answer from
Jesus. Luke 2:41-50. Did you not know, that I must be about My Father’s business?
The Bible bears record that they did not understand the statement, which he spoke to them.
The problem is, that Joseph and Mary did not understand! Just over 12 years ago they experienced the greatest miracle, which
ever happened for the cause of eternity.
How could they have forgetten so quickly, who Jesus is, who his Father is, what is the purpose of his mission and life? How
could they forget the manner in which Jesus was conceived and born?
1 John 3:8 confirms, what was declared to Joseph and Mary. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that
he might destroy the works of the devil. In John 1:10 Jesus said that the thief cometh not but to steal, and to kill and
to destroy.
When we see the effect of Satan’s work through Astrology, Witchcraft, Spiritism, Theosophy (divine wisdom), Christian
science, Mormonism, Jehovah’s witnesses, Unitarianism, Islam, Hare Krishna, Eastern Religion and others, and the effect upon
the lives of individuals caught up in its web, we are moved with compassion as Jesus was moved with compassion.
We can see the lives of so many destroyed by the filth and the effect of sin and rebellion (both spiritually, physically), sexual
promiscuity, destroyed marriages, abandoned children and abused by every form of abuse, seeing the devastating effect of
alcohol, drugs, sniffing, stealing, killing, murdering and so on, we see the effect of the works of Satan, who came to steal, to
kill and to destroy.
When the purpose of his coming was to destroy the works of the devil, how was Jesus destroying Satan’s evil works?
After the baptism in Jordan river by John the Baptist, and spending 40 days and nights in the wilderness fasting and being
exposed to the temptation by Satan, Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit in to Galilee.
So he went into the Synagogue in Nazareth and read from the book of Isaiah 61 – Luke 4:18 the Spirit of the Lord is
upon me … After he closed the book, he declared: This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
How was this scripture fulfilled in their ears? How is the evil works of Satan destroyed? How in our ears?
It is so easy even for Pentecostals to come to a non-biblical conclusion, of what it means to be involved in destroying the
works of the devil. For the correct answer we must go to the Bible and the ministry of Jesus.
Matthew 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the
gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Verse 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and
were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Mark 1:33 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were
possessed with devils. 33 And all the city was gathered together at the door. Verse 34 And he healed many that
were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
By the preaching of the Gospel and proclaiming the love of Jesus by shedding of his blood on the cross of Calvary, by calling
men to repentance, by healing them from sicknesses and diseases, by casting out devils and unclean spirits, the works of the
devil is destroyed!
The destruction of the works of the devil begins with the proclamation of the Gospel! Jesus declared that what is born of
the flesh is flesh, and that, which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit put on the flesh. The Bible declares: he was manifested. The Word, the Spirit was
manifested in the flesh. Jesus was called the Son of God, for he was born of God.
John 1:12,but as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them, that believe
on his name.
How can a man receive him? John 3:3-5 You must be born again!.
As Jesus, born of the Holy Spirit is called the Son of God, so the Bible declares that they, who are born of the Holy Spirit, are
called the sons of God. They have power, authority to become the sons of God.
Jesus, the Word, the Spirit, the spiritual being was manifested in the flesh, so are we who are born of the Holy Spirit, spiritual
beings walking, talking dwelling and ministering temporarily in the flesh.
As the identity of Jesus is God manifested in the flesh, so our identity is the sons of God, living temporarily in the flesh.
As the purpose of the life and ministry of Jesus was to destroy the works of the devil, he declared in John 14:12,
the works I do, ye shall do also.
What works? The deeds of destroying the works of the devil. How? By proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, by calling
souls to repentance, by exercising authority over Satan not only by not giving in to the temptation of this world and to our
own flesh, but by allowing also the presence of the Holy Spirit to manifest, to demonstrate itself through the supernatural gifts
of the Holy Spirit.
We were created for the pleasure of God Rev. 4:11 and in this is the heavenly Father glorified, in this he has a pleasure in
us when we bear much fruit.
It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit. It is the presence and the demonstration of God in us and through us as the apostle Paul
declared in 1 Cor. 2:4 and my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in
demonstration of the Spirit and of power.
He certainly displayed the works of Jesus in his involvement and his ministry as Jesus declared, we all should do.
Luke 13:32-33 , behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures today and tomorrow…nevertheless I must walk today and
tomorrow and the day following.
This is what Jesus was doing yesterday, doing today and tomorrow and the day following.
What did you do yesterday? What are you doing today? Are you in your Father’s business? What are you going to do
tomorrow and the day following?
Did you make plan to be in your Father’s business? Who is your Father? What do you see and what do you hear?
Joseph and Mary did not understand what Jesus said and done. They did not understand what it meant to be in my Father’s
business. Do you understand today what it means to be in the Father’s business?
It’s not enough to regular attend the church services. It’s not enough to dress right, to speak right and to act right.
It’s not enough just to financially support the ministry and the work of the Lord by tithes and offerings.
It is so easy to fall into the trap of having the form of godliness, but to deny the power thereof, the power of God, and the
presence of God by acknowledging and accepting his Lordship.
We do not belong to ourselves, we do not own ourselves. We did not create ourselves, nor have we saved ourselves.
We belong to Jesus. Our life, heart, soul, mind, abilities, talents, motives, desires, all what we are and what we have belong
to him. We are just his stewards!
The earth is not my home, I am just passing through….we sing. But often our daily routine is contrary to these words. We
became too capitalistic in our thoughts, our approach and lifestyle. We are attracted to own and to posses and to multiply
our material wealth as individuals, as families and even as churches.
As we set our heart to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness first, as we are willing to leave the comfort of our
blessing behind and walk the path of the streets and lanes of our cities, as we reach the highways and hedges, as we will
see the misery of drunkenness and even child prostitution and every kind of despicable abuse, the plague of homosexuality
and drug abuse, the bruised bodies and souls of the captives of Satan, when we will see the degradation and consequence
of sin in the lives of so many, the violence and crime, the corruption and hypocrisy, as we will listen to the words uttered
in the court rooms, and many homes, schools and hospitals, and as we will be exposed to the desperation of so many souls
contemplating suicide and realize that Jesus died for every soul, that Jesus has compassion for every soul wallowing in
misery and he does not want that any should perish, something will happen in our soul.
I remember on many occasions as I prayed, O Lord increase the burden in my soul for lost souls. I was praying for weeks
and months, O lord do not reject me. Make me a soul winner. Make me a profitable servant in your vineyard that I may live
to your glory. Take my soul ,my ear, my mind, my body, my talent, my abilities, my desires and my motives…take even all
of my insecurities upon your altar. O Jesus, what can I do for you?
The Lord blessed us in a business and we were financially reasonable comfortable together with my wife.
But we were longing for a deeper presence, for a deeper manifestation of God in our lives in spite of the fact that we were
pastoring a church, which the Lord Jesus helped us to established and later on we joined in and ministered in one of the
Pentecostal churches in Adelaide.
After our arrival to Bundaberg, the burden for lost souls intensified in us. The world lost its attraction for us. The material
things like the value of house and cars meant nothing. I was asking the Lord for deeper consecration. I was asking the Lord
daily to take my life a fresh as a living sacrifice. I cried, give me the souls of this city or take my life away, for what is the
purpose of my life?
On one occasion as I opened my Bible, my eyes focused on the Word of God recorded in Ezekiel 24:16 Son of man,
behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke…and so on.
At that moment I knew the meaning of these words through the Gift of the Holy Spirit / the Word of knowledge. It saddened
my heart, for I loved and received my wife as the best gift of God in my life after Him.
I wasn’t sure, whether she shall be returned to me as Isaac was to Abraham. In thoughts of loss and expected loneliness and
separation I reassured the Lord of my love for Him, regardless of the price he would ask me to pay.
I am not satisfied with shallow walk looking from a far off as the shallow sons of prophets were in the days of Elisha, just
curious what the Lord will do.
I must go to my personal Bethel for a fresh dedication and Jericho to recognize that the will of God is not accomplished by my
might and power, and I must cross the Jordan and depend upon the provision of God and His supernatural power to make
a way for me. I must focus my attention upon the presence of God and away from the distraction of my surroundings.
I must experience and posses the anointing of God to carry on the work of the Lord.
I am not satisfied to be a part of a small and secluded group of peculiar people, deceiving myself into oblivion. I do not want
limit God with my human limitations and shortcoming stipulating through my passivity, how many people will be saved in my
city.
We were called to posses our cities and this land for Jesus. We were called and equipped by the Holy Spirit to carry on the
Living Word of God in the authority of the name of Jesus.
We were called to continue in the ministry of Jesus and destroying the works of the devil.
It takes preparation, it takes training, and it takes discipline. In prayers and supplications and fasting, in consuming (partaking)
the Word of God, the faith, which was once delivered unto the saints, is bringing the assurance of God’s presence in us, with
us and for us.
We want to reach the entire city with the Gospel of Christ. Some will accept it and some will reject it.
Compel them to come, commanded Jesus.
We don’t compel anyone by regular attendance of the church services. We compel them ministering to them where they are
and as they are. We need to find them.
When you experience “their” resistance, inability to understand and unpreparedness to accept, when you will feel the sleazy,
evil presence of the wicked one, the expression of anger, wrath, hatred, bitterness and recognition of your inability to make a
change in their lives, you’ll begin to search the presence of God, the mind of God, the anointing of God. You will recognize
your dependency upon the guidance and the demonstration of the presence of the Lord through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
You will cry and allow the Holy Spirit to intercede with groaning, which cannot be uttered, through you.
Do you know that it is possible to sin not only by doing something but also by not doing something?
James 4:17 , therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is a sin.
Ephesians 6:11-13 , put on the whole armour of God, for we wrestle not against the flesh and blood, but against....
2 Cor 10:3-5 For thou we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh.
When Daniel in his love to god and compassion for his enslaved nation started to confess not only his personal sins, but
also the sins of his people, and nation and their forefathers, God moved mightily and brought deliverance.
2 Chronicles 7:14, if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways; than will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sins, and will heal their land.
As we came to the conclusion of this service, I believe that we understand what the Lord is saying to us.
There is a power in repentance. Not only for forgiveness but for the blessing and deliverance, reconciliation and restoration
beyond the life of a prayer warrior.
